Kayak Series names
To avoid any possible confusion about kayak models when looking at photos etc - all Neris hybrid folding kayaks (EG Smart / Smart PRO) have a Series logo on the front side deck and all Neris folding kayaks (Alu / Valkure) have a Series logo on the rear deck.
EG - you will only see "NERIS SMART PRO" on all three Smart PRO models

PVC rafts
This initial packraft offering, being made of tougher and more durable 100% PVC (as opposed to thin lightweight TPU) is primarily for those where the compact packed size / weight is not a priority. For example, for the urban/rural packrafter or WW kayaker for car-to-water usage, or for the rental related market (EG WW sport centers, Adventure Centres) and for groups such as Scouts and other outdoor social clubs.
The materials used in these rafts is the same time proven marine grade PVC's that is currently used with all of our existing model folding kayaks / canoes that are regularly used around the world - from icy Greenland to hot Turkey...
These specific PVC materials are chosen based on best tear/abrasion resistance, total weight, and optimal temperature ranges (icy waters to hot climates). The hulls are of a tougher PVC whilst the sides and decks are of a lighter and thinner grade PVC. Air pressures can be up to 3-5 PSI so these packrafts can be pumped hard to make the boat fairly rigid for better performance - far stiffer than the majority of the lightweight packrafts on the market where the last stage of inflation is by mouth.
TPU rafts
We are aware that our initial offering of tougher grade PVC rafts is not ideal for the typical backpacking packrafter looking for the lightest and most compactly packed possible raft - a LIGHT backpacker variant of each model will follow in early 2021. The NERIS Packraft Series
Currently there are two model packrafts in the Series:-
"LotaFun" Currently 2 sizes - Small & Medium (lengths 2.14m / 2.24m). Previously called 'JustFun', now modified. A compact (short) packraft. There are also three "sub-models" of the LotaFun - Basic (BAS), Standard / Expedition (STD / EXP) and Whitewater (WW).
"BigFun" Soon to be 2 sizes - Small & Medium (lengths 2.63m & TBA) which is like a tourer, intended for those wanting internal (cockpit) storage space or longer leg space in the bow, take a small child, or to be able to stow a small lightweight folding bike. There are three "sub-models" of the BigFun - Basic (BAS), Standard / Expedition (STD / EXP) and Whitewater (WW).
The Standard / Expedition version has black Velcro surrounds for a removable spray deck, the WW version has a fixed spray deck. The Basic version has no spray deck fittings
More different models will be introduced. A model packraft that may be introduced next (subject to demand) is a compact tandem (2 adults) designed so that the raft can also be used as a long single with extra internal (cockpit) storage space. Do register your interest in this model with us. Other "custom" models will be considered on request - EG WW Centre rental needs.
Lightweight variant (TPU)
In addition to these existing models, there will be a LIGHT variant available of all versions (from early 2021 onwards).
The LIGHT variant will have a lighter grade PVC for the hull and TPU for the inflatable sides and decks (EG spray deck). This combination will have a dramatic weight saving difference over the tougher 100% PVC variants. More details about the light variants (EG weight, packed size and prices) and associated accessories (EG inflation bags) will be announced nearer the time.
Model versions - Basic (BAS), Standard (STD), Expedition (EXP), and Whitewater (WW) - what bits come with them, whats the difference?
Basic version (PVC):-
Basic Raft, inflatable seat, backpack bag, foot pump, repair kit. Pressure Relief Valves (PRV) fitted. No spray deck Velcro surrounds fitted
Standard version (PVC):-
Basic Raft, inflatable seat, backpack bag, foot pump, repair kit. Pressure Relief Valves (PRV) fitted. Spray deck Velcro surrounds fitted
Expedition (PVC):-
Standard PVC version set plus removable spray deck, waist skirt, cockpit cover, thigh straps, foot rest
Whitewater (PVC):-
Basic PVC version set plus fixed spray deck, waist skirt, cockpit cover, thigh straps, footrest
LIGHT variants (TPU):-
Inflation bag instead of foot pump, stuff sack instead of backpack, etc. No PRV fitted
Optional Extra accessories:-
- Those opting to get the basic version can add any non spray-deck related accessories to the order - EG thigh / leg straps
- Those opting to get the standard version can add any accessories to the order - EG spray deck, waist skirts, thigh / leg straps
- Bow-to-stern inflatable floor mattress. Good for a semi rigid floor (seat shape does not cause a bulge in the hull) and boney rivers!
- Dry bags of all shapes and sizes, including conical shaped bags that fit in the BigFun bow and also act as a footrest
- Skeg base plates can be fitted and removable skegs supplied when you order the raft. Available summer 2021
- For the BigFun raft, there is a two cockpit hole spray deck version available. Use as loading hatch or as a second sitting position for a very small child. Respective sized waist skirt and cockpit cover is available
- Mounts to hold various accessories - fishing rod holders, camera, etc. (BORIKA universal system)
Other options available - on special request (Exchange)
- Spray decks are supplied standard in black. Similar colour spray decks to the raft is available
- Larger cockpit hole spray-decks available for easier entry and exit - good for tallish paddlers or for those with a large girth or have knee problems. With respective sized waist skirts and cockpit covers
- Change backpack bag from the standard black polyester backpacks to a PVC colour matching 80l dry-bag backpack
Raft colours
- PVC versions - standard in Red, Orange, and Blue.
Olive Green and all black available on special request.
Note that the spray decks are made of a different grade PVC hence the colours are slightly different producing a two tone effect. See Notes
- TPU versions - initial offering will be yellow and all black. Later, other colours will be added
Other bits
PVC Rafts are sold with Pressure Relief Valves (PRV) fitted.
These PRV's will enable rafts to be inflated rock hard, safely without damage (EG 3-5psi). LIGHT rafts will not have PRV's as the primary inflation method will be inflation bags - the PVC rafts use pumps (compatible with common SUP's)
